Created by Chris Fox

Thank you for helping us to bring the RPG to life! The Magitech Chronicles began as a best-selling fiction series, and now we're finally coming to tabletop RPGs. Below you can see the add-ons for the game. It's not to late to get in on the ground level! Join us, Outrider.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Lots of Magitech news!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 07, 2020 at 04:18:53 PM

Hey, backers! It's been a crazy couple weeks for all of us, I know, but we've not been idle working on the Magitech Chronicles RPG. Today I have to complete final work on the massive list of changes to the PDF you already have access to. These will be sent to our designer, and once he's completed the updates we'll send version 1.02 out to backers for testing.

For anyone who hasn't signed up, and wants to be a part of the beta test, you can do so here. We will also have a preorder link as soon as we hammer out our development cycle. We've lost contact with a developer and an artist, and are hoping they and their families are safe. Principle writing and design is on track, but we're behind on some art, and on layout elements.

Speaking of art here's the update on Takashi's necrotech piece we teased. This is about 50% done, and will have much more detail and color added:

We also finally have a couple campaigns running that were born of the RPG development group, so if you're a gamer geek and want to test this out come join us! If you're more wanting to geek out on lore and the novels, then we've got the main group here.

Finally, we'll have Backerkit live this week, and all backers will get their surveys. After you fill yours out you'll get your first download link to the art collection. There will be more to follow as we update that library!

If you have questions you can post here or hit me up at [email protected]. We're having entirely too much fun on Roll20. I hadn't used the platform since like 2011 and wow has it come a long way. I'm loving it. We did end up having to turn to Discord for voice though.

Anyway, can't wait to have you guys join us!

We did it! The Magitech Chronicles RPG is a reality and you made it happen
over 4 years ago – Wed, Mar 25, 2020 at 07:37:58 PM

The Kickstarter ended an hour ago, and I'm wasting no time. I'll be GMing my first campaign on Sunday from 12 - 4 my time to test the First Contact saga, since we hit that with the stretch goal. For those receiving digital benefits we're assembling the art folder, plus a few extra goodies, and then will be hosting it on the magitechchronicles.com site so you can get your hands on it.

After some discussion I've decided that we will shelve the Quickstart guide (except for backers who specifically pledged for it) and just provide the full beta at every stage of development, so you can test full rules. Rules discussion takes place on Facebook here, and the main Magitech Chronicles group is here. I'd love to see anyone interested in lore and rules join one or the other. We'd love to have you.

Several GMs have started their own games, and I'd love to hear more about yours. People are able to request resources in group, and I read the posts, so I can get you what you need as quickly as possible. We've added ammo types, forges and foundries, and many other mechanics and lore as a direct result of your feedback.

If you have questions you can message me on Kickststarter, or at [email protected]. Version 1.02 of the RPG will be available as soon as we can make it, and includes all the things. Please note that changes are already live on World Anvil, so you don't need to wait if you want access to any new content.

Okay, back to work! We'll have a followup update as soon as I've finalized the BackerKit. Incredible work, Outriders.

18 hours and this thing is official. Let's celebrate with some worldbuilding
over 4 years ago – Tue, Mar 24, 2020 at 11:51:25 PM

An Overview of Our Sector

The following is a look at how worldbuilding is presented in the main book. We've talked about Catalysts, and spellarmor, but we haven't really looked at the universe. This is the format for learning about the setting, and you can continue reading through the link at the end of the segment.

I grew up starlocked on Kemet, before it imploded. Since then I've plundered ancient hulks in the Vagrant Fleet, and battled the Unseen Fleets. I've both been saved by the Confederacy, and watched it perpetrate injustice. I've been inside the Nebiat System, and spoken with the Krox.

I've toured the shipyards at New Texas, and spent time in alleys on Ternus, so far below the towering skyscrapers that light doesn't even reach them. I have even spent time among the demonic artificers that serve Xal'Kazon, the demon prince of creation, and witnessed his dark miracles.

This is a link to the World Anvil page if you want to keep reading. It details some of the nations in the sector

And now back to the real world for a moment o.o

A few people have noticed that we're not heavily promoting the end of the Kickstarter. Given everything going on it feels a little self-serving to do a media blitz right now, so we elected to accept what funds you guys have given us, and be grateful for the support.

Thanks to you we have enough capital to publish a main book we can be proud of, and to pay the artists, writer, and designers for doing what we love. I have no idea what the final total will be, but I am so grateful for everything you've helped us achieve.

I plan to deliver something amazing, and then I want to play it with you. In the meantime I'll keep videos and updates coming. We have all sorts of exciting news to share.

BackerKit looks like it will be a thing. Also, a glimpse of the First Contact player handout.
over 4 years ago – Sat, Mar 21, 2020 at 08:08:08 PM

Hey, guys! I know there is a lot going on in he real world, but we play RPGs to escape the real world, so no more about that here. Stay safe.

Several backers pointed me in the direction of BackerKit, and I've made an account, and begun linking it to the KickStarter. More on that to follow, but the short version is yes...we want to have the ability for you to upgrade your pledge after the Kickstarter ends. I should have that live by Monday, I hope.

Now onto the fun stuff...

I've been working on the First Contact Saga, and I think you're really going to enjoy it. Here's the player handout, but the short version is your world has been cut off for nine thousand years. You are blocked by something called the Razor Belt, a sea of mirrored fragments in a cloud around your world. The belt generates some sort of electromagnetic interference, and all attempts at sending ships and probes through have failed.

Now, for the first time, you might be able to escape and see what's out in the rest of the galaxy. A ship has been discovered. A dark ship, powered by the souls of the living. It's up to you to steal that ship, and then decide whether to destroy it and keep your planet isolated, or keep it and introduce your planet to necrotech.

Also, how about our first look at necrotech concept art?

A necromancer unleashing his soulshackled Wyrm

This is a work in progress, and the next version will incorporate some changes to really bring necrotech to life, and to show that the dragon is an animated corpse. Here's a look at how that process is communicated between artist and writer:

Anyway, the work isn't going to stop when the Kickstarter ends, no matter how we do. I am committed to bringing you a fun game with amazing art, and will update frequently. If you have questions let me know!

Thank you guys for the amazing support.

Beta Character Sheets are Available for Download
over 4 years ago – Sat, Mar 21, 2020 at 04:07:40 PM

Hey, all! Just a short update. We've posted character sheets where you can get at them. Check that power armor paper doll on page two!

We have the following pages planned to add to this:

- Experience Log

- Ship / Vehicle Log

What else would your perfect character sheet have? We might not be able to do it all, but all feedback is welcome. Note that we also have a silver version, for those wanting to print these out. We'll be sending that out in the welcome packet after the Kickstarter closes. You can compare them below:

Oh yeah, the Kickstarter! We're about to hit 300% funded...how crazy is that?!? I'll get a chance to run the First Contact saga online soon, so I'll be ready for that tier. If I post the sessions on the YouTube channel would that be useful?
